The Port of Falmouth Chamber of Commerce have negotiated a special facility for the fully paid up members of the Chamber of Commerce to enable you to obtain free telephone legal advice and assistance on business related issues.
The scheme will start on the 1st February 2010 and is only open to fully paid up members of the Chamber of Commerce.
The Helpline
The advice will only be provided by telephone.
On issues relating to business law such as:-
- Employment Law
- Contract and Consumer Law
- Leases and Business Property Law
The helpline will provide first aid advice through one telephone conversation which will not be more than thirty minutes in duration.
The helpline will not provide detailed legal advice and will not study documents, research the law, send or receive emails, faxes or include any meetings.
The times when the helpline will be operating
The initial legal advice helpline will operate on Monday to Friday on normal business days between 10 am to 12 noon and 3 pm to 4 pm. However if the matter is urgent then the Legal Helpline Team will do what they can to assist you outside the normal helpline hours depending on other work commitments.
Exclusions from the Scheme
The initial legal advice helpline will not be able to provide any advice on the following topics:-
- Criminal, HSE or HMRC prosecutions
- Employers Liability or Public Liability Claims
- Intellectual Property Issues
- Any HMRC tax issues
- International Contracts or any element involving a foreign jurisdiction
- Any issues relating to State Benefits or Welfare Benefit Law
Although these areas of law are excluded from the scope of the helpline the team might be able to direct you to other firms of solicitors or experts who might be able to assist you but any advice provided by those solicitors will fall outside this helpline scheme and you will be responsible for any charges made by those solicitors.
