Falmouth is a popular destination for Cruise Liners, being not only a large port, but also one of the few with deepwater along-side facilities, allowing liners to land their passenger without the need for boats.

The stop at Falmouth affords visitors an exceedingly wide range of facilities as well as fascinating local history, with the Docks being almost underneath the walls of Pendennis Castle.

Plans are afoot in Falmouth to restart dredging in the main harbour area, in order that the newer generation of larger cruise ships remain able to come alongside, and keep this important source of visitors for the town.  And there is a network of volunteers known as the "Falmouth Ambassadors", who wait for the passengers to come ashore from each visiting cruise ship, and if required help the visitors find the shop, restaurant or historical site they are looking for, or just show them around the town.
