Falmouth is famed as one of the largest natural deepwater ports in the World. Together with her position as England's most westerly major port this makes her an attractive shipping destination.
Major Commercial shipping operators rely on the yards in Falmouth docks for manufacturing and repair work, and vessels from Europe and all over the world can be seen here for re-fit and repair. Many ships also put into Falmouth to take on low Sulphur Diesel which is required by EU regulations, having used cheaper fuels while crossing the world's Oceans.
And ships also come here to rest, with visitors to the area often surprised to discover their massive steel hulks in what appear to be narrow tree-lined creeks in the sheltered yet deep upper reaches of Falmouth Harbour and its many arms.
